LEARN ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

Ketch A Courier LLC is a premium on-demand package delivery service focused on Revillagigedo Island providing accessible, secure, trusted, and fast delivery anywhere across the road system, for a simple cost.

entrepreneur history

It all started like many businesses, wanting to provide a service that Ketchikan needed. The Founders Marie and Michael are lifelong residents and professional drivers. They felt a personal delivery service was sorely needed by many of the citizens of our island. In 2020, while the world needed safe transportation of goods to reduce public contact, they acquired delivery skills as essential workers driving for major online delivery apps in Las Vegas. When they were finally able to return from the arid desert to their rainforest home in Southeast Alaska, they took those skills, along with what business experience they had, and their combined decades of professional driving, and built a business that catered to the unique environment of their hometown.

They started slowly with only a few orders per week, but as they gathered partners, they created a recognizable brand built on the goal of helping their neighbors. Their efforts to support businesses, citizens, and the government of Ketchikan, Saxman, Ward Cove, and all across Revillagigedo Island were recognized with the award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2022 by the Ward Cove Group and the Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce. As they grew, they were able to bring in contracted couriers who could assist as gig drivers and ensure that every order was provided the care it deserved.

They have experimented with various delivery services over the years but have settled on the Personal On-Demand Pick-up Courier and the Business Delivery Assistant Courier.

delivery culture

Every business has a culture of expectations, and the Delivery Culture has taken on new challenges since the start of the decade by becoming a fundamental part of our personal lives.

Revillagigedo Island has special requirements that make communication and transportation difficult for the residents depending on… the time of year, the extreme weather conditions, or just the personal needs of the population and visitors.

The delivery fundamentals are: timing, accuracy, supportive contact, and package care.

We expect businesses to honor their customers by preparing their orders at their agreed-upon time, with all the goods accounted for, and packaged properly along with an itemized receipt of goods.

We expect couriers to collect and verify they have received the correct order, and to transport it safely and quickly to the destination with all necessary contact required to ensure it is received.

We expect customers and clients to provide accurate information to ensure delivery success, and to remain available for contact until the order has reached its destination successfully.

We expect the public to recognize our couriers while doing their duty and to maintain respectful behaviors to support safe and healthy social interactions.

vehicles

Every contract courier drives their own personal vehicles, which have ranged from a Razor ATV to a Ford Escape.

The Owner as well as the Operations Manager, operate the official Ketch A Courier logo cars. These vehicles have changed a bit over the years.

We started our business in 2021 with a black Pontiac Vibe.

By 2022 we had added a white Subaru Legacy with a recognizable orange spoiler.

In 2023 we upgraded to the latest fuel-efficient hybrid available, acquiring two of them to replace our aged fleet, which doubled our mileage and guaranteed years of service.

Our pearly white Toyota Prius hybrid AWD hatchback is our larger vehicle and is our only pet-friendly vehicle.

Our gray Toyota Prius hybrid AWD is a hatchback but was redesigned with a fresh sports car look and is often confused as a pure electric car.

logo and motto

Our logo is a white halibut swimming at a fast pace with bubbles flowing from the tail, positioned over an orange ring, which is reminiscent of both the vibrant sunset and a marine life preserver/lifesaver.

The halibut represents a fish famous in Southeast Alaska for waiting on the bottom of the ocean until an opportunity passes by, and then snaps it up in a flash and takes care of it before settling back down to wait again. It symbolizes how a Courier waits for a random order before ensuring it gets done as fast as necessary.

The orange ring represents the favorite colors of a sunset, and the common orange marine life preservers used in our local environment. It symbolizes our main goal of universal safety as well as the lifestyle and emergency support we provide for our community
